India fire incidents: Mumbai office evacuated and two dead in Delhi
Multiple fire incidents occurred across India on Monday. In Mumbai, a fire broke out in the basement of the seven-storey Aayakar Bhavan Income Tax Office in the Churchgate area. The blaze, which was upgraded to a Level-II incident, caused smoke to spread rapidly through the building due to the central air-conditioning system. At least 28 people were rescued from various floors and the terrace, but no casualties or injuries were reported.
In West Delhi, a fire in a warehouse in Raghubir Nagar resulted in the deaths of two people. Officials report that the blaze was likely triggered by an explosion in e-rickshaw batteries stored on the first floor. Emergency teams brought the fire under control in the early morning hours, but the incident has raised concerns regarding the safety of storing and charging such batteries in residential and mixed-use buildings.
