Théo Pourchaire signs with Opel GSE for 2026‑27 Formula E season
French driver Théo Pourchaire, the 2023 FIA Formula 2 champion, has been confirmed as the first regular driver for the Opel GSE Formula E Team. The 22‑year‑old will race in the 2026‑27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, marking his first full‑time single‑seater seat after stints in endurance, IndyCar and F1 development roles.
Opel will make its Formula E debut with the new GEN4 car, which features all‑wheel drive, up to 600 kW of power and a top speed exceeding 335 km/h. Pourchaire said the GEN4 platform’s power and acceleration suit his driving style. Team principal Jörg Schrott highlighted ongoing development work on the 27FE prototype and noted that the season will open in Saudi Arabia on 18‑19 December 2026.
