Thoma Bravo to acquire Accelerant in $4 billion deal
Several major transactions and funding rounds occurred within the insurtech sector. Thoma Bravo has agreed to acquire specialty insurance platform Accelerant in an all-cash deal valued at over $4 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, shareholders will receive $20.25 per share, representing a 49% premium over the closing price on August 12.
In legal developments, a Delaware Chancery Court ruling has revived Verisk’s proposed $2.35 billion acquisition of AccuLynx, a provider of workflow software for roofing and property restoration businesses. The transaction remains subject to regulatory review.
In the startup space, Axle secured $17.5 million in Series A funding, led by Base10 Partners, to develop infrastructure for automating insurance verification. Additionally, commercial property insurer FM acquired FortressFire, a wildfire intelligence company, to integrate machine learning and physics-based modeling into its risk assessment capabilities.
