Thomas Müller names Olise and Mbappé as top Ballon d'Or candidates

German footballer Thomas Müller has shared his top picks for the Ballon d'Or, highlighting Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappé as the players whose individual performances have impressed him most.

Müller noted that both players combine entertaining play with a genuine goal threat, blending finesse and power effortlessly. Olise recorded 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 appearances during the 2025/26 season, while Mbappé concluded his previous campaign with 49 goal involvements in 44 matches.

Müller’s selection has drawn attention due to the exclusion of his former Bayern Munich teammate, Harry Kane. Despite Kane recording an impressive 61 goals and seven assists in 51 appearances, Müller prioritized the “magic” and combination of spectacle and efficiency displayed by Olise and Mbappé.
