Thomas Partey shines in first Al Shabab start

Thomas Partey delivered a strong individual performance in his first start for Al Shabab during a Saudi Pro League match against Al Riyadh. Despite being substituted at halftime, the 33-year-old Ghanaian midfielder showed significant influence in the center of the pitch.

During his time on the field, Partey recorded 46 touches and maintained an 88% passing accuracy, completing 30 of 34 attempts. His defensive and offensive contributions included winning five of seven duels, making three tackles and three clearances, and creating two chances. The match ended in a 3-3 draw for Al Shabab.

Partey, who recently joined Al Shabab from Villarreal, is expected to provide a boost to the Ghana national team. He is slated to play a key role in the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with matches scheduled against Côte d'Ivoire on September 23 and The Gambia on September 27.
