Papua: Three agriculture officials killed by armed group

Three agriculture department employees from Jayawijaya Regency were killed by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Muliama District of Highland Papua while distributing livestock assistance to local communities.

In response to the killings, Indonesian lawmakers have called for immediate action. Member of Parliament Mafirion Syamsuddin Rogo characterized the shooting of civilians performing public service as a serious human rights violation. Similarly, Commission I member Oleh Soleh urged the government, TNI, and Polri to move beyond reactive measures and develop a comprehensive roadmap to eradicate the KKB in Papua.

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that while the security situation is critical, the government's food and livestock assistance programs in Highland Papua will continue. He reiterated that achieving food self-sufficiency is a strategic priority to protect the nation and its farmers from global economic volatility.
