Three arrested in foiled Georgia high school shooting plot
Three individuals have been arrested following an FBI investigation into a planned shooting at Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia. The plot, which was allegedly scheduled to take place on August 20 of next year, was discovered after federal agents identified threatening social media posts.
According to arrest warrants, suspects Shane Keith Taylor, 17, and Michael Brandon Terry, 21, allegedly reached an agreement with an unidentified juvenile to provide weapons. The group had reportedly obtained a floor plan of the school and discussed purchasing body armor, video cameras, and combat boots. Taylor is considered an adult under Georgia law.
The unidentified juvenile suspect was arrested on October 20, while Taylor and Terry were arrested on October 23. Investigators have seized guns, ammunition, and electronic devices as evidence. Cherokee County School District Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis stated that law enforcement successfully disrupted the plot, and officials noted there is no ongoing threat to local schools.
