In Riverside County, California, two 15-year-old girls were arrested following an FBI investigation into suspicious social media communications. Authorities stated the suspects had spent months researching mass shootings and methods for obtaining firearms. While a list of specific names was discovered, no weapons were recovered during searches.
In Canton, Georgia, authorities have arrested three individuals, including two juveniles, following an FBI investigation into a plot targeting Cherokee High School. The conspiracy was allegedly scheduled to occur on August 20 of next year. According to arrest warrants, suspects Shane Keith Taylor, 17, and Michael Brandon Terry, 21, allegedly reached an agreement with an unidentified juvenile to provide weapons. The group had reportedly obtained a floor plan of the school and discussed purchasing body armor, video cameras, and combat boots.
One juvenile suspect was arrested on October 20, while Taylor and Terry were arrested on October 23. Taylor was apprehended in Metter, Georgia, and Terry was arrested in Chatsworth, California, where he is awaiting extradition. Searches conducted by local and federal agencies, including the FBI, ATF, and Georgia Bureau of Investigation, resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and electronic devices. Cherokee County School District Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis stated that law enforcement successfully disrupted the plot and noted there is no ongoing threat to local schools.
