Three climbers die on Italy's Gran Paradiso mountain

Three mountaineers were killed while attempting the north face of Gran Paradiso, a 4,061‑meter peak in the Italian Alps. The group left a mountain hut early in the morning but failed to return, prompting an emergency call. Rescue teams later found the bodies on the north wall at roughly 3,600 m altitude.

According to the Alpine rescue service, two of the victims were Italian; the identity of the third had not yet been confirmed. The exact cause of the fall remains under investigation. Gran Paradiso, located in a national park in north‑west Italy, is considered one of the easier four‑thousand‑meter Alpine summits, though it still requires solid physical and technical preparation.
