Three dead in fatal collision on Route 39 in Entre Ríos

A fatal head-on collision occurred on Tuesday morning along Provincial Route 39 in the Tala Department, Entre Ríos. The accident involved a municipal Citroën Berlingo from Urdinarrain and a Scania truck.

The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Franco Díaz and his 53-year-old mother, Jachy Arriola. The pair were traveling from Urdinarrain to Paraná for medical check-ups related to a kidney transplant performed in November 2024, after Arriola had donated a kidney to her son to treat his chronic renal failure. Also killed in the crash was Leandro Perovich, 35, a municipal employee from the Social Development area who was driving the vehicle.

Preliminary reports suggest the accident occurred around 4:50 a.m. near kilometer 56, close to the Jockey Club of Rosario del Tala. The driver of the Scania truck reportedly struck a horse loose on the road, causing the heavy vehicle to cross lanes and collide head-on with the municipal van. The truck driver, a 52-year-old man, was rescued from the cab and transported to a hospital in Rosario del Tala for evaluation.
