Spain's forest fires surge as UME rescues livestock and battles blazes

The Unidad Militar de Emergencias (UME) deployed crews to free cattle trapped by wildfires sweeping central Spain, rescuing several animals from flames.

In Madrid, security‑camera footage captured a house engulfed by fire in just eight minutes, illustrating the rapid spread of the blaze. Meanwhile, aerial units have been engaged in the Vall d'Uixó fire in the Castellón province, which has burned roughly 4,300 hectares and expanded to a perimeter exceeding 40 kilometres. Spanish authorities praised the coordination of emergency services and are working to contain the fires and protect affected communities.

The incidents highlight the escalating severity of Spain's forest‑fire season and the extensive response by military, civil protection and regional governments.
