Violent axe and knife attack in Bucharest's Sector 4 leads to arrests

On 15 June 2026, police in Bucharest’s Sector 4 intervened in a violent clash in which two men, aged 33 and 37, struck two 17‑year‑old passengers in a car with an axe and a knife. The assault caused damage to the vehicle and provoked a nearby driver to lose control, colliding with a moped and injuring its rider, who was taken to hospital.

Police recovered a pistol with a suppressor, an axe and a knife at the scene, detained six people for questioning and placed the two suspected attackers under preventive arrest for 30 days. Investigators also opened a case against a 17‑year‑old who was driving without a licence. The incident was recorded on video and prompted temporary traffic restrictions in the area.
