Three family members killed in Tawau car accident

A mother and her two sons died following a car accident at Batu 14, Jalan Apas, in Tawau, Malaysia. The victims, aged 50, 30, and 28, were pronounced dead at the scene on Monday morning.

A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured in the crash, sustaining injuries to her ribs and abdomen. She was transported to Tawau Hospital for emergency treatment.

Tawau Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh stated that the family was traveling from Kampung Bahagia, Sandakan, to Tawau when the driver, the 28-year-old son, reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a straight stretch of road. The car skidded off the road, struck an oil palm tree, traveled approximately 60 meters, and overturned.

Initial investigations revealed that the driver did not possess a valid driving license. The vehicle has been seized for inspection by Puspakom, and police are investigating the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving.
