Three fishermen rescued after drifting off the coast of Chicxulub Puerto
Three fishermen were found alive on Wednesday morning after their vessel, the ‘Renata’, drifted approximately 15 miles off the coast of Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatán. The crew, consisting of one resident of Chicxulub Puerto and two from Halachó, had been reported missing Tuesday afternoon.
The incident reportedly began after the boat encountered a storm at sea, resulting in a mechanical engine failure that left the vessel without propulsion. The crew remained adrift for several hours, causing significant concern among family members and local residents.
Local fishermen organized search efforts and eventually located the boat around 7:00 AM on Wednesday. They towed the vessel back toward land, where they were met by personnel from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública and paramedics near the shore. The fishermen were assessed for their well-being upon arrival.
