Three workers killed in Bombril factory attack in São Bernardo do Campo

On the morning of 1 August 2026, a 33‑year‑old subcontractor of the logistics firm TPC entered the Bombril factory in the Rudge Ramos district of São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, armed with a knife. He stabbed three fellow subcontracted workers – José Guilherme Victoriano de Moura (54), Edvaldo Santos da Silva (44) and Douglas de Souza Vieira (39) – who died at the scene. The attacker was apprehended by police inside the plant and taken to the 2nd Police District of São Bernardo do Campo, where he committed suicide while in custody. The Civil Police Corregedoria opened an investigation into the circumstances of his death. Bombril issued a statement expressing solidarity with the victims’ families, confirming cooperation with authorities and noting that the assailant was a temporary employee who suffered a “surge”. The TPC logistics company also pledged assistance to the families and full collaboration with the investigation. The case remains under inquiry by the São Paulo State Police and the specialized homicide division, with bullying allegations among the victims being examined but not yet confirmed.
