Three police officers killed by IED in Zamfara, Nigeria

Three members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit of the Zamfara State Police Command were killed on Monday when their armoured personnel carrier struck an improvised explosive device on the Anka‑Bagega road. The explosion destroyed the vehicle and the officers—Officer Commanding SP Abdulrazak Musa Hassan, Inspector Auwal Ahmad and Inspector Murtala Musa—were buried after Islamic funeral prayers led by the chief imam.

The Zamfara state government, represented by Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Nakwada, attended the rites and expressed condolences, stating, “This tragic incident will not make us relent; it only emboldens us. We will intensify our efforts, and victory is assured, In‑Sha‑Allah.” Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu, who also attended, vowed that “there will be no safe haven for them” and pledged continued joint operations against bandits.

The incident highlights ongoing bandit activity in the region and the government's commitment to supporting security forces and the families of the fallen officers.
