Three Rivers Land Trust secures conservation for North Carolina lands
Three Rivers Land Trust has successfully facilitated the permanent conservation of two significant properties in central North Carolina to protect wildlife habitats and water resources.
In Iredell County, 150 acres spanning the border of Iredell and Alexander counties have been protected from development. The property includes mature forests, riparian corridors, and a portion of Shumaker Mountain, which reaches an elevation of approximately 1,716 feet. This conservation effort was a collaborative project with the Boone family to fulfill a long-term vision for the land.
Additionally, 84 acres in Cabarrus County have been conserved along the Rocky River. This site includes nearly a mile of shoreline and serves to protect the water quality of the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin, a vital drinking water source for over 1 million people. The conservation of this family farm and forest aims to mitigate the loss of farmland and habitat caused by rapid regional development.
