Three women killed at Boxer store in Eshowe during disciplinary hearing
Three female managers were shot and killed at a Boxer grocery store in Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, during a disciplinary hearing on Saturday, 10 October. Police report that the suspect, a former employee who reportedly worked in the store's bakery, allegedly locked the victims in an office before returning with a firearm to carry out the attack.
The victims included the bakery, store, and administration managers. One victim was identified as Thandiwe Chili, a long-term employee of 20 years. The suspect remains at large, and law enforcement has launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
The ANC Women's League has condemned the killings, describing the incident as a brutal attack on defenseless women. The League used the tragedy to renew calls for a referendum on the reintroduction of the death penalty to combat femicide. Boxer has stated it is supporting the families of the deceased and is cooperating fully with the police investigation.
