Thüringen. Gerecht party founded by former BSW politicians

Former members of the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) have founded a new political party in Thuringia called ‘Thüringen. Gerecht’. The announcement follows a significant split within the BSW, where 13 of 15 Thuringian state parliament members, including high-ranking officials, resigned from the party due to ongoing conflicts with the federal leadership.

Katja Wolf, the former BSW state chair and current Finance Minister, has been elected as the new party leader. The leadership team also includes Infrastructure Minister Steffen Schütz and Steffi Eschrich as deputies. The group formed the new party in Erfurt just 48 hours after their departure from the BSW.

The new party’s platform aims to combine economic strength, social justice, democratic participation, and a peace-oriented foreign policy. Key priorities include strengthening the economy, social cohesion, affordable energy, and increased citizen involvement. The rapid formation was driven by the need to secure the legal status of their parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament.
