Thuringia to hoist rainbow flag for Christopher Street Day

In observance of Christopher Street Day (CSD), Minister Stefan Gruhner (CDU) and representatives from Erfurt Pride e. V. and the ‘CSD Erfurt’ alliance will hoist the rainbow flag in front of the Thuringian State Chancellery in Erfurt.

Gruhner stated that the flag serves as a symbol of a free Thuringia where human dignity is inviolable and individuals can live without fear. He emphasized that the state government remains committed to respect and social cohesion, asserting that hate and violence have no place in the country.

This action follows a recent Islamist-motivated terror attack during a Christopher Street Day event in Berlin. Gruhner noted that such attacks should not intimidate the public and reaffirmed the role of a robust rule of law in protecting citizens against those who attack individuals based on their lifestyle.
