Tibor Navracsics launches Polgári Demokraták initiative

Tibor Navracsics has announced the launch of a new social initiative called ‘Polgári Demokraták’ (Civic Democrats). In a video message released on August 20, the former minister called for a new dialogue to overcome the extreme political polarization in Hungary, which he stated undermines the country's unity and ability to act.

Drawing on the historical wisdom of Saint Stephen, Navracsics argued that political revenge, cursing, and the exclusion of opponents do not lead to a viable future. He emphasized that the goal of political communities should be to make the country livable and welcoming for all citizens, rather than merely seeking to conquer or win power.

The initiative invites individuals from all political backgrounds and worldviews to participate in discussions aimed at creating a ‘homely, livable, and happy’ Hungary. Navracsics has previously expressed criticism regarding the future of the Fidesz party, suggesting that if the current political landscape shifts, a new force may be required.
