Germany's Deutschlandticket price set to rise to €66.40 in 2027
The nationwide Deutschlandticket currently costs €63 per month and is used by more than 14 million passengers. A price index, agreed by the transport ministers, combines a cost index (covering personnel and energy expenses) with a value factor. Calculations by the Tagesspiegel background service show that the index will raise the monthly price by about €3.40, reaching €66.40 in 2027.
Federal and state subsidies for the ticket are capped at €1.5 billion each year, and the government plans to keep overall financing stable until 2030. A “damping factor” could limit further hikes from 2028 if ticket sales increase. Brandenburg’s transport minister Robert Crumbach warned that higher regional‑rail track charges (Trassenpreise) may add extra costs for the ticket, prompting calls for a joint federal‑state financing solution.
