Tierra del Fuego develops medicinal cannabis cultivation protocol

Tierra del Fuego has completed the first week of field research to develop a provincial protocol for Good Practices in Medicinal Cannabis Cultivation and Manufacturing. The initiative aims to standardize production processes, enhance biosecurity, and ensure the traceability of cannabis derivatives.

The project is a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Production and Environment in coordination with the Ministry of Health, the National University of Tierra del Fuego, the National Technological University, and the Federal Investment Council. Technical teams and agricultural engineer Benjamin Enrici conducted site visits to various production projects, including non-governmental organizations and selected plant breeders, in Ushuaia, Tolhuin, and Río Grande.

Evaluations conducted during these visits highlighted the high technical level achieved by local producers and the province's potential to consolidate medicinal cannabis as a formal productive activity. The data gathered will serve as the foundation for the province's first official regulatory framework for the sector.
