Tierra del Fuego opens registration for adult literacy program

The Government of Tierra del Fuego, through its Ministry of Education, has announced that registration is open for the “Yo sí puedo” Provincial Literacy Program. This free public initiative is designed for individuals over the age of 18 who wish to learn how to read and write.

Since 2023, approximately 400 people have graduated from the program. Annual graduation figures include 86 people in 2023, 106 in 2024, and 154 in 2025. As of 2026, roughly 48 participants are currently enrolled. The program utilizes a flexible methodology tailored to daily life situations and operates in small groups to allow students to progress at their own pace.

Registration centers are located in Río Grande, Ushuaia, and Tolhuin. The program aims to foster autonomy and improve social, personal, and professional development for its participants.
