Tierra del Fuego secures $45,000 million national financial advance
Tierra del Fuego has secured a new financial advance of up to $45,000 million from the Argentine national government. The agreement, signed by Governor Gustavo Melella and the National Secretariat of Finance, carries a fixed annual nominal rate of 15%. The capital will be repaid through withholdings on the province's federal coparticipation funds.
This latest operation is the seventh such advance provided to the province in 2026. The provincial government must also provide periodic reports on its public finances to the national authorities. This mechanism is a short-term financing tool rather than a non-refundable transfer.
Separately, in the municipality of Río Grande, local authorities are managing significant fiscal challenges. The province currently owes Río Grande approximately $17,000 million in unpaid coparticipation funds, a figure that has grown since the end of 2025. Meanwhile, Mayor Martín Pérez has presented a 2027 budget project for Río Grande totaling $239,505 million, aiming to prioritize essential services and public works despite the difficult economic context.
