Tiger mosquitoes increase near construction sites in Le Mans

Construction activities in certain areas are contributing to an increase in tiger mosquito populations. In Le Mans, the Agence régionale de santé (ARS) Sarthe has issued an alert regarding the rise in mosquito bites.

Local authorities report that construction sites create numerous ‘micro-habitats’ for mosquito breeding. Items such as signaling cones, buckets, wheelbarrows, and poorly tensioned tarps collect rainwater, providing ideal conditions for larvae to develop. These larvae can mature in as little as seven to ten days during warm weather. Because tiger mosquitoes typically remain within approximately 150 meters of their breeding site, these construction-related water points are directly impacting nearby residents.
