Tiger shark captured by fishermen in Alagoas, Brazil

Fishermen captured a tiger shark weighing approximately 300 kilograms and measuring over two meters in length near Pituba Beach in Coruripe, on the southern coast of Alagoas, Brazil.

Cláudio Buia, a specialist from the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal), identified the specimen as a tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier). While the species can reach lengths of up to 5.5 meters and is known for its diverse diet, experts noted that its presence near the coast does not necessarily indicate a threat to humans.

Local fishermen reported that finding an animal of this size in the area is uncommon. Images of the shark being transported on a donkey-drawn cart circulated widely on social media following the capture on Wednesday.
