Tigres del Licey manager targets playoff-level intensity from season start

Gilbert Gómez, manager of the Tigres del Licey, has set a new strategic goal for the team for the 2026-27 LIDOM season. Following a difficult previous campaign where the team finished with a 9-16 record and failed to qualify for the postseason, Gómez is demanding a shift in mentality.

Gómez stated that the team must play with “playoff-type” intensity from the very first game of the regular season. He emphasized that the losses sustained during the early weeks of the previous tournament were the primary reason the team was unable to recover and reach the final round. The objective is to avoid losing ground early on, as those missed opportunities become insurmountable as the season progresses.
