Regional art exhibitions open across the Balkans

Various art exhibitions are opening across the Balkan region, highlighting diverse themes ranging from historical resistance to contemporary identity.

In Sarajevo, the exhibition ‘Maps of Sarajevo 1992–1995’ showcases works by prominent artists as a form of cultural resistance during the city's siege. Meanwhile, Mostar is hosting a major retrospective of Marin Topić, featuring over 140 works that explore the connection between the artist and the Neretva River.

Other notable displays include ‘Geometry of Passion’ in Đurđevac, a dialogue between photography and painting, and ‘Austrocomix’ in Pančevo, which presents the modern Austrian comic scene. In Slovenia, the Božidar Jakac Gallery is hosting an exhibition of self-taught artists such as Ilija Bašičević Bosilj and Sava Sekulić.

Additional exhibitions include Valentina Supanz Marinić’s ‘Truth or Challenge’ in Croatia, Iva Štefanac’s ‘Southern Horizons’ on Pelješac, and Tijana Kojić’s ‘Stasis’ in Belgrade. In Montenegro, Cetinje’s history is being revisited through an exhibition of vintage postcards.
