Overview

Artistic initiatives and exhibitions continue to expand across Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, covering themes from historical resistance to contemporary identity.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo is hosting ‘Maps of Sarajevo 1992–1995’, an exhibition featuring works by prominent artists as a form of cultural resistance during the city’s siege. Mostar is presenting a major retrospective of Marin Topić, showcasing over 140 works centered on the artist’s connection to the Neretva River.

Croatia’s exhibition scene includes ‘Geometry of Passion’ in Đurđevac, which facilitates a dialogue between photography and painting, as well as Valentina Supanz Marinić’s ‘Truth or Challenge’ and Iva Štefanac’s ‘Southern Horizons’ on the Pelješac peninsula.

In Serbia, Pančevo continues to feature the modern Austrian comic scene with ‘Austrocomix’, while Belgrade hosts Tijana Kojić’s ‘Stasis’. Slovenia’s Božidar Jakac Gallery maintains its focus on self-taught artists, including Ilija Bašičević Bosilj and Sava Sekulić. Additionally, Montenegro is revisiting the history of Cetinje through an exhibition of vintage postcards.
