Xalapa's Recreative Route Draws Thousands of Families and Pets

The municipal government of Xalapa held the second edition of the "Ruta Recreativa — Xalapa se Mueve" on Sunday, drawing over 3,000 participants from families to seniors, many accompanied by pets. Mayor Daniela Griego Ceballos and municipal secretary Víctor Hugo Meza Cruz led the 2.5‑km circuit that runs between Juan de la Luz Enríquez and Manuel Ávila Camacho avenues, allowing walking, running, cycling and skating.

The event featured child‑focused activities in Benito Juárez park—including chess, football, traditional Xalapa‑style lottery games and free children’s cinema—as well as informational booths from the Municipal Institute for Women (IMMX) and the municipal protection system for children and adolescents (Sipinna). Organised by the Directorate of Urban Development, led by Aldo Ponce Ramírez, the programme highlighted active mobility and community well‑being, receiving enthusiastic feedback from attendees who praised the permanent nature of such activities.
