Guatemala-Mexico regional road race events

In late June 2026 Guatemala hosted its 37th Olympic Day race, drawing over 10,000 runners and promoting Olympic values. The following month Mexico’s 31st Medio Maratón Internacional de Tijuana attracted about 6,000 participants from ten nations, while Guatemala’s 11th XRun in Quetzaltenango gathered 2,000 runners to support local emergency‑service charities. These events highlighted a regional trend toward large‑scale road races that blend competition, community outreach, and fundraising.

On 26 July 2026 Xalapa’s municipal government staged the second “Ruta Recreativa — Xalapa se Mueve”, a 2.5‑km circuit that welcomed more than 3,000 families, seniors and pets. The programme combined walking, running, cycling and skating with child‑focused games, a free cinema, and informational booths from local women’s and youth agencies, reinforcing active mobility and community well‑being. Together, the series of events across Guatemala and Mexico underscores an expanding focus on inclusive, health‑oriented road‑race activities throughout the region.
