Tijuana authorities arrest five suspects in connection with human remains discovery

Five individuals, including one woman and four men, have been arrested in Tijuana in connection with the discovery of human remains and threatening messages left in the Otay area. The suspects were apprehended during a patrol in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood following a coordinated operation involving the Fuerza Estatal de Seguridad Ciudadana (FESC), the Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the National Guard, and the Secretariat of National Defense (DEFENSA).

The arrests follow two violent incidents occurring on October 1. In one instance, a severed human head was found in a plastic bag near the Otay international border crossing. A second incident involved the discovery of a body approximately five kilometers away on the Alamar highway near an Amazon logistics warehouse.

Authorities reported that during the search, officers seized plastic wrappings containing a white powder suspected to be cocaine. The detainees, whose identities include a 19-year-old from Los Angeles, California, and several men from Tijuana, Chihuahua, and Sinaloa, have been turned over to the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) for investigation.
