Atlixcayotontli festival to feature 700 dancers in Puebla
The 22nd edition of the Atlixcayotontli festival is scheduled to take place in Atlixco, Puebla, with key events including a Convite on August 30 and the main festival on September 6 at Cerro de San Miguel.
Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced that the event will feature over 700 dancers representing four ethnographic regions: Los Volcanes, Los Valles Centrales, La Tierra Caliente, and El Tenzo. The festival aims to preserve the cultural roots, traditions, and ancestral knowledge of the region, fostering identity and community well-being.
Organizers have planned interactive modules to collect public testimonies and a special activity titled ‘El humo de los abuelos’ to connect older generations with the youth. The event is free to the public and is supported by the state government as part of a broader cultural rescue policy.
