Tijuana reports police officer death and discovery of four bodies
In Tijuana, a municipal police officer died following a car accident in the Playas area on Thursday, October 1. Omar Robles Valenzuela, a member of the Traffic Section with over 20 years of service, was the passenger in the vehicle. The driver, identified as Mayra Valeria, sustained multiple injuries and was hospitalized for medical evaluation.
Separately, the search collective ‘Buscando a Tolano’ discovered four bodies—three men and one woman—at a landfill located on the border between Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito. These findings bring the total to six people located at the site since the group began its searches, including two minors identified in August.
Bárbara Martínez, representing the collective, called for genetic testing to identify the remains and urged authorities to provide permanent security at the search site. The group is requesting increased personnel from the State Attorney General's Office and specialized machinery to facilitate excavations, while also expressing concerns regarding the safety of the searchers.
