Tijuana to host opera and tango fusion concert

The musical program ‘Poéticas del Arrabal: Ópera y tango Fronteras y desbordes’ will take place on October 3, 2026, at the Teatro de la Casa de la Cultura de Tijuana. Organized by Ópera de Tijuana, the Secretaría de Cultura de Tijuana, and Ópera Explícita, the event explores the intersection of lyrical opera and the soundscape of tango.

The performance is dedicated to the work of Astor Piazzolla, a central figure in the 20th-century renewal of tango. Featuring vocalists Gabriela Bojórquez and Martín de León alongside the Camarada Tango Quartet, the program includes selections from ‘María de Buenos Aires’, a work created by Piazzolla and poet Horacio Ferrer, as well as other representative tango repertoire.
