TikToker Ibrahim Musana granted mandatory bail in Uganda
TikTok content creator Ibrahim Musana, known as ‘Pressure 24/7’, has been granted mandatory bail by the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court after spending approximately five months on remand without trial.
Musana faces charges of hate speech and unlawfully obtaining or processing personal data under the Data Protection and Privacy Act and the Computer Misuse Act. The prosecution alleges that on March 5, 2026, Musana obtained the name and photograph of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, without consent and subsequently published content on his TikTok account intended to ridicule or demean the General.
The court ruled that Musana was entitled to mandatory bail because his pre-trial detention had exceeded the 60-day constitutional threshold. Magistrate Rophine Achayo, acting on behalf of Chief Magistrate Neumbe Ritah Kidasa, noted that the delays in the trial were not caused by the accused.
Terms of the bail include a cash payment of Shs1 million and two substantial sureties, each providing a non-cash bond of Shs5 million. Musana must also surrender his National Identity Card and is prohibited from contacting Gen Kainerugaba, witnesses, or interfering with the ongoing investigations.
