TIM launches Priority service in Italy, promising dedicated bandwidth and support

TIM has introduced a new service called Priority, which offers customers on its fiber network a dedicated traffic lane, faster response times and enhanced digital protection. The rollout starts with Wi‑Fi Priority on fiber connections and will extend to the 5G mobile network from October. CEO Pietro Labriola said, “For years innovating the network meant offering more speed and more Giga to everyone. With Priority we open a new phase: the network recognizes the customer and guarantees the resources they need.” The move follows a surge in data traffic in Italy—over 280 % growth on mobile and 130 % on fixed lines—prompting a shift from a best‑effort model to guaranteed quality.

A consumer satisfaction survey of more than 20 000 Italians showed Netflix as the top‑rated streaming service, Iliad leading mobile operators, and fiber broadband as the preferred internet offering, while DAZN and Vodafone TV scored low. Meanwhile, guidance on home‑internet quality stresses the importance of underlying technology (FTTH, FTTC, FWA), modern routers supporting Wi‑Fi 7, and the impact of multiple devices on performance for AI, streaming, cloud gaming and videoconferencing. General troubleshooting advice also highlights checking devices, running speed tests and verifying Wi‑Fi settings before contacting providers.
