Romania mountain roads and hiking trails closed due to heavy snow
Severe weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and low temperatures, have led to significant travel restrictions across several Romanian mountain regions. Authorities have closed the Transalpina road (DN 67C) on the sector between Rânca and Obârșia Lotrului for all vehicle categories as of Saturday afternoon.
In Prahova County, Salvamont has closed all high-altitude hiking trails due to dangerous conditions. Snow depth at Vârful Omu is expected to exceed 50 centimeters, with wind and fog increasing risks for tourists.
Agricultural activities in regions such as Oltenia and Muntenia are also facing disruptions due to torrential rain and high humidity. Meanwhile, in Botoșani, officials have warned that heavy snow could potentially isolate entire localities and disrupt utility supplies.
