Timișoara police conduct massive raid, fine 29 and seize nine vehicle registrations

During the night of 11–12 July 2026, police units from the Municipal Police of Timișoara carried out an integrated operation across the city centre, including Victory Square, Liberty Square, Union Square, and several parks. The raid involved Urban Police Sections 1, 4, 5, traffic bureaus, the Economic Crime Investigation Service, the Auto Register, the Banat Emergency Inspectorate and local police, aiming to maintain public order, curb antisocial behaviour and verify commercial and traffic compliance.

The operation legitimised 319 persons and inspected 93 vehicles. Authorities issued 29 contraventional fines worth a total of 17,590 lei for traffic violations, public‑order offences and fiscal‑device non‑compliance. Six offences were recorded, one driver’s licence was seized for aggressive driving, and nine vehicle registration certificates were withdrawn. Noise checks were performed ten times, resulting in three additional fines. Two businesses received official invitations to appear before the controlling institutions.
