Timișoara police fine hundreds for illegal parking near hospitals

Local police in Timișoara have conducted intensive inspections regarding parking and stopping regulations, specifically targeting areas near hospitals and designated spots for persons with disabilities and parents with young children.

Over the past five months, 486 drivers have been sanctioned, with total fines amounting to 369,621 lei. Of these, 148 drivers were fined for violating laws protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and priority access for pregnant women or those with children under five, totaling 236,838 lei. Additionally, 338 drivers were penalized for irregular stopping or parking near major medical units, including the County Hospital and Municipal Hospital, resulting in 132,783 lei in fines.

Authorities emphasized that illegal parking in these zones can obstruct ambulances and other vehicles transporting patients. In certain instances, vehicles found parked irregularly may be towed.
