Timisoara Police Conduct Integrated Traffic Check, Issue 37 Fines
During the night of 17–18 July 2026, the Timisoara Road Police unit carried out an integrated traffic operation in the city centre from 19:00 to 02:00. The action, conducted with the Road Service, the Romanian Vehicle Registry and the Local Police, set up checkpoints on streets such as Michelangelo, Popa Șapcă, Oituz, Cluj, Aries, Take Ionescu, Lipovei and Aradului.
The operation processed 236 people, inspected 128 cars and 52 motorcycles, and resulted in 37 contraventional fines totaling 9,826.25 lei. Violations included 35 offences of the traffic code, 2 noise‑disturbance offences, and the seizure of three driving licences and fifteen registration certificates. Police also identified a driver whose licence had been suspended, leading to a criminal case. Two additional fines were issued for exceeding legal sound‑level limits, with two more registration certificates seized.
Overall, the raid aimed at enforcing traffic safety, technical compliance of vehicles and reducing noise pollution in Timisoara.
