Timor-Leste PM Xanana Gusmão visits Thailand for official talks

Timorese Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão has traveled to Thailand for an official visit, marking the first such visit by a Timorese leader in 13 years. The official state visit is scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

Gusmão is set to meet with his Thai counterpart, Anutin Charnvirakul, on Thursday, a day during which several agreements are expected to be signed. Discussions will focus on development cooperation across various sectors, including defense and security, trade, investment, food security, energy, tourism, and cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Prior to the official meetings, the Prime Minister will participate in a petrochemical industry technology forum in Bangkok on Tuesday and Wednesday. His itinerary also includes a visit to Nonthaburi and the Thailand Environment Institute, alongside meetings with Thai private sector representatives to explore economic cooperation and investment opportunities.
