Tinos Health Center faces administrative dispute and leadership resignation

The 2nd Health Region of Piraeus and Aegean has officially rejected a private fundraising initiative titled ‘T2T – From Tinos to Tinos’, which reportedly raised 60,000 euros intended for the purchase of an ultrasound machine for the Tinos Health Center. The regional health authority clarified that the initiative was not organized, co-organized, or conducted under its auspices, nor was any formal approval granted for collecting or allocating funds in the name of the public health facility.

While the President of the Tinos Health Center’s Governing Committee had verbally informed the Regional Governor of the intent to raise funds, the authority emphasized that equipment needs for public health units must follow documented planning and official proposal processes.

Concurrently, Georgios St. Vasilakis has resigned from his position as President of the Governing Committee of the Tinos Health Center. In his resignation letter, Vasilakis cited the need for substantial state support, resources, and immediate solutions to address chronic shortages and structural problems. He stated he did not wish to serve as a ‘buffer’ for the systemic deficiencies that undermine the facility's operation and exhaust its staff.
