TIPRA Motha wins 1,148 village committee seats unopposed in Tripura

The TIPRA Motha Party has secured 1,148 village committee seats unopposed in the ongoing 2026 Village Committee (VC) elections in Tripura. This accounts for approximately 25 percent of the 4,597 total seats available, providing the party with a significant early advantage in the local governance elections.

State Election Commissioner PK Chakraborty reported that a total of 10,958 nomination papers were submitted, with 10,936 candidates set to contest the remaining seats. The nomination process concluded on September 8.

To ensure a peaceful election process, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the deployment of 74 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for security duties. The State Election Commission has also addressed allegations raised by opposition parties regarding the nomination-filing process.
