Tirana International Airport sees major passenger growth
Tirana International Airport has experienced significant growth, positioning it as a major aviation hub in the Balkan region. In 2025, the airport handled approximately 11.6 million passengers, a volume that exceeds the resident population of Albania.
This surge in traffic has allowed the airport to surpass Serbia's Nikola Tesla Airport in passenger volume. The growth is attributed to increased tourism, the entry of low-cost carriers, expanded flight frequencies, and heightened business and diaspora travel. This development is viewed as a key indicator of Albania's economic and social transformation and its strengthening connections to international markets.
