Albania and Kosovo report fuel explosions, drug seizures, and corruption arrests
Multiple criminal and safety incidents have been reported across Albania and Kosovo. In Tirana, an explosion at the ‘Eida’ fuel station near Brryli caused significant damage to office buildings and injured three employees. Investigators are examining whether the blast originated from a gas cylinder, a faulty pump, or the vehicle being refueled.
In Durrës, police seized 107.7 kg of cannabis, valued at approximately 1.2 million euros, hidden inside a modified camper within a container arriving from Canada. Additionally, in Kolonjë, a married couple was arrested for cultivating 270 cannabis plants near their home.
In Kosovo, authorities arrested Adhurim Konjufca in connection with a shooting at a car dealership in Veternik. Meanwhile, in Fushë Kosovë, Mayor Valon Prebreza announced the dismissal of the Property Director, Gëzim Zogiani, following his arrest for suspected property misappropriation involving 1.5 million euros. Economic reports also indicate that inflation in Kosovo reached 7.3% in August 2026, driven largely by a 21.1% increase in transport costs.
