Violent shootings and explosions in Albania and Greece

A series of violent incidents involving shootings and explosions has been reported in Albania and Greece. In Shkodër, 24-year-old tourism worker Ylber Luli died in the hospital following a confrontation at his home. Police reported that after a dispute in a local establishment, 25-year-old Andri Vulaj went to the victim's residence. A physical altercation involving the victim and his 63-year-old father, Qamil Luli, resulted in the father and son wounding Vulaj with a knife, prompting Vulaj to respond with a handgun. Vulaj was arrested at the scene. In Athens, an attempted assassination was reported in the Patisia neighborhood, where 55-year-old Eduart Mullaj was wounded. Witnesses reported hearing shots following a verbal conflict, and attackers fled the scene on a motorcycle. Mullaj is reported to be in stable condition. Greek authorities are investigating potential links to organized crime, including money laundering. In Tirana, two separate incidents occurred. In the Laprakë area, specifically the “Fusha” zone, two men identified as B. D. (39) and D. T. (35) were wounded by gunfire. Both were taken to the hospital and are reported to be out of life-threatening danger; police recovered an abandoned vehicle near the scene. Additionally, an explosion occurred at the ‘Eida’ fuel station in the Brryli area, causing significant structural damage to the office premises. Three employees were injured and are in stable condition. Investigators are examining whether the blast was caused by a gas cylinder, a faulty pump, a gas leak, or a vehicle collision. In Krumë, a 30-year-old man surrendered to police following a shooting involving a 29-year-old; authorities seized a Kalashnikov and ammunition during the arrest. In Durrës, police seized 107.7 kg of cannabis, valued at approximately 1.2 million euros, hidden inside a modified camper arriving from Canada.
