Tirunelveli bus accident kills conductor, injures 20

A government bus conductor was killed and more than 20 passengers were injured following a head-on collision with a soil-laden lorry near Prancheri in the Tirunelveli district. The accident occurred on the Tirunelveli-Thoothukudi highway when the lorry, traveling in the opposite direction, reportedly lost control and struck the bus.

The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Ajith Melvin Arthur, a resident of Kanniyakumari district. The impact caused extensive damage to the front of the bus. Emergency responders and police arrived at the scene to evacuate the injured, who were transported to the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital for intensive medical care.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision. Authorities are currently questioning the lorry driver to establish the circumstances that led to the vehicle losing control.
