Tisza Party names media regulatory candidates and wins interim elections
The Tisza Party has announced its candidates for two key media regulatory bodies in Hungary: the Independent Public Media Board (Független Közmédia Testület) and the renewed Media Council (Médiatanács). For the Independent Public Media Board, the party nominated György Szabó, Miklós Hargitai, and Viktor Bálint. These individuals were previously endorsed by various professional media organizations. For the Media Council, the party selected Márta Bencsik, Bea Judit Bodrogi, and Krisztina Nagy, citing their expertise in media law and regulation.
Separately, the party saw significant success in recent interim municipal elections held in Enying, Hajdúböszörmény, Hajdúbagos, and Sárvár. Magyar Péter, representing the party, reported that all candidates supported by the Tisza Party or its parliamentary representatives achieved decisive victories, with many winning by two-thirds majorities. These elections were necessitated by several officials moving from local government to parliamentary roles.
